Mike Truesdell is a freelance percussionist and adjunct professor of percussion at Rutgers and Columbia University in New York City. Mike’s endeavors as a solo and chamber musician have brought him throughout the United States, Europe, and Japan. He received acclaim in The New York Times for his performance of Tan Dun’s Silk Road in New York’s Alice Tully Hall and New York Magazine called his performance of Steve Reich’s Drumming as one of the Top Ten Performances of 2014. He serves on the faculty of the nief-norf Summer Festival and Zeltsman Marimba Festival and holds degrees from Lawrence University (B.M.) and The Juilliard School (M.M. and D.M.A to be completed this summer). He has performed with the New York New Music Ensemble, Talea Ensemble, has recorded and toured with the Spectrum Percussion Trio, and at the Lucerne Festival and on tour internationally with Pierre Boulez. As a percussionist, he has premiered works by composers including David Fulmer, Michael Jarrell, and Michael Torke.
