New Music New Communities Concert
The Composers Conference's New Music/New Communities Initiative (NM/NC) is a project that utilizes the Conference’s role as an arts education organization to inspire and engage young musicians from underserved communities. Through collaborations with local music education organizations in the greater New England area, the Composers Conference provides students with the tools to become composers and creators within a supportive environment, unleashing their personal artistry while fostering enduring creative relationships. The Composers Conference is thrilled to be partnering with the Concord Community Music School for the 2023 season. Join us in celebrating the premieres of three young, promising composers who are currently students at CCMS in Concord NH.

Each year, in honor of the longtime CMW participant and advocate Susan Horvath, the Composers Conference selects a Fromm Fellow Composer from the previous year, to write a new piece for a joint ensemble of CMW, CPI and Conference Ensemble musicians. Join 2022 Fromm Composer Fellow Sepehr Pirasteh in concert and conversation, with the premiere of his work And I See You Everywhere.

Composers Conference Guest Composer Spotlight: Zeena Parkins
Join the Composers Conference’s 2023 Guest Composer Zeena Parkins in an evening of conversation and a performance of her work. Parkins many awards include a Guggenheim Fellowship, the Doris Duke Artist Award, a Berliner Kunstlerprogramm/DAAD Fellowship, Foundation for Contemporary Arts, MAP Fund grants, NYFA Fellowship, and Atlantic Center for the Arts Master Artist-in-Residence. She received an Honorary Doctorate in Fine Arts from Bard College in 2022 and has been the Darius Milhaud Professor of Composition at Mills College.
