CONFERENCE DATES
July 13 - August 3, 2025
The Conference Ensemble performs and records music of the Composer Fellows and Guest Composers, whose music is featured along with contemporary classics and rarities from the standard repertoire in four concerts over the two weeks they are at the Conference. Our Conference Ensemble members also coach the CPI and the CMW musicians, and work with our New Music Conductor Fellow.
The Conference Ensemble consists of the finest new music specialists, many of whom are members of highly regarded groups such as Talea, ICE, counter)induction, the Network for New Music, New York New Music Ensemble, the Argento Ensemble, BMOP, Talujon, Momenta Quartet, and others. The 2025 Composers Conference is excited to announce its distinguished Guest Conductors for Week 2 and 3, taking place July 20 - August 2, 2025. This year’s Guest Conductors—Tian Hui Ng and Matilda Hofman—bring a wealth of expertise, creativity, and passion for contemporary music, making this year’s conference an unparalleled celebration of new works and artistic innovation.
Week 2 Guest Conductor: Tian Hui Ng
Hailed by the Boston Globe for transforming the experience of new music from “great to unforgettable,” Tian Hui Ng is one of the most exciting conductors of contemporary music in the United States. As Music Director of the Victory Players, a flagship ensemble of the Massachusetts International Festival of the Arts, Ng has been a prominent force in bringing contemporary music to life, with performances on platforms like New England Public Media and WGBH, as well as tours to Puerto Rico and Illinois.
As Music Director of White Snake Projects, Ng has conducted over 50 world premieres, including Alice in the Pandemic by Jacobs and Sosa, a landmark work included in the Library of Congress’s special collection for its significance during the pandemic. In 2025, Ng will debut with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, premiering Jerod Impichchaachaaha’ Tate’s Shell Shaker, and will also debut Eric Nathan’s Flute Concerto with Alejandro Escuer. Ng’s dedication to groundbreaking, boundary-pushing music makes him an inspiring leader for Week 2 of the Composers Conference, where participants will benefit from his visionary approach to contemporary performance.
